An Important Reminder —How Leaven Pictures Sin By George M. Kackos

God offers Christians vital lessons through the Days of Unleavened Bread. What do these days picture, and how can they help you lead a happier life?

The apostles were jolted! First, the sound of a violent windstorm filled the house where they were meeting. Then, almost before they had time to think, glowing flames of fire began leaping upon them. Continue reading…

Those who try to excuse and accuse

You’ve probably had someone come to you and remind you that “Herbert W. Armstrong was human. He sinned.” I often found that the spirit that rules those who say that most often is not the Holy Spirit, but rather a foul spirit that wishes to accuse. Notice 1 John 3:7-8 “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning…” When you bring up the importance of what Christ gave to His apostle, God’s wonderful truth and sound doctrine, they often will try to redirect the conversation on how “Herbert W. Armstrong was a fallible human being. He sinned too”. I always found that dumb to say, because of course he was human, and of course he did sin. The re-direction made is not on the Work of God done through Mr. Armstrong but rather that the man of God had sinned. The accusation they are making, however, is against the Holy Spirit. It’s their defense against why they are no longer walking in what was taught to them. Herbert W. Armstrong, as Christ’s chosen apostle obeyed God’s Commandments, therefore he was given a “good understanding”.(read Ps. 111:10) And like 1 John 1 reveals, the apostles gave the “Words of life” to the Church. That “good understanding” they received from Christ, was passed down. Notice Matt. 10 & Luke 10. They say “well..now here’s how I see it. Herbert W. Armstrong was wrong in several different things…he isn’t infallible.” They are speaking against the Holy Spirit, accusing that what came through God’s apostle isn’t sound! They want to prove to you, how you can’t trust what he taught. That comes from Satan the Devil. They want to call Christ a liar! So they accuse His apostle of being a liar! And they regulate the importance of the “words of life” that Mr.Armstrong taught the Church from Jesus Christ, down to a “maybe”. WHAT BLASPHEMY! Then they can get you to join them and their rebellion against God, if they can convince you of that! That’s Satan’s plan. The apostle John, in 1 John, was writing concerning deceivers! ” These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.”(1 John 2:26) 1 John 1:1 “concerning the Word of life” ” that which we[the apostles] have seen and heard we declare to you[the Church], that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”(verse 3) So if we reject what Christ gave through His apostle, we are cutting fellowship off from the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ! IT’S THAT IMPORTANT! 1 John 2:24-26 “Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning[from the apostle of Christ]. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. ” or try to pull you away into DISBELIEF of what Christ gave through His apostle! So put those who come to you with this deception, who no longer are LOYAL to Christ and His apostle, who no longer walk in light but in darkness, OUT and view them as God views them. They are not led by the Holy Spirit, and are led by Satan and his demons, trying to DECEIVE YOU. Herbert W. Armstrong was a keeper of God’s commandments. He obeyed God. He had the Holy Spirit of God.He had a “good understanding”. And what he taught came from Jesus Christ, and we are admonished by Christ through his written word, to HOLD FAST to what we have been taught by Christ’s chosen apostle, and “abide in it”. Christ tells us what was taught came from Him, and that they are “the words of life”. And if we hold fast, and abide in what was taught, we will have eternal life promised to us! Those who do not abide in the doctrine given by Christ through His apostle is apostate and as it is written in 2 John, we are not to allow them into our homes, nor should we fellowship with such people. It’s that serious.]]>

FROM MINISTERIAL SERVICES

[Original Publication]
It’s hard to believe, but five years have already passed since the first Ministerial Refreshing Program started. The major emphasis of the first program was to stir all of God’s ministry to support and back Mr. Herbert Armstrong in setting the Church back on God’s track. The ministry itself had to be set back on God’s track before that effort could be extended to every congregation around the world.

Perhaps many of us would be surprised to realize that it was seven years ago that Mr. Armstrong reinstituted The GOOD NEWS magazine, and began to include such articles as “And NOW–The PLAIN TRUTH Being Set Back on Track,” “CHRIST NOW PUTS CHURCH BACK ON GOD’S FINANCIAL TRACK!”, “AND NOW CHRIST SETS CHURCH BACK ON TRACK DOCTRINALLY” and “CHRIST NOW MOVES TO PUT GOD’S GOVERNMENT BACK ON THE TRACK.”
As Mr. Armstrong has so often reminded us, we must not only stay on God’s track, we must be moving forward on God’s track! As time goes on, the natural tendency is to begin to let down. If we are not careful, the sense of urgency and recommitment to the faith once delivered-that we all felt five to seven years ago can begin to fade.

CHRIST NOW LEADS TO REJUVENATE CHURCH
by Herbert W. Armstrong
Good News June 19, 1978

GOD’S CHURCH has been in mortal DANGER! That danger was WITHIN OURSELVES – the fatal danger of drifting away from Christ spiritually. The danger of putting worldly politics into our midst. The DANGER of saying, “I am of Paul – or I am of Apollo – or I am of Cephas.” This DANGER of trying to slide as close as possible – without falling off – into the abyss of Satan’s secularism and worldliness.
Some of us – brethren, TOO MANY of us – HAVE, PERHAPS NOT REALIZING IT, been led to want to let – little by little – more of THIS evil WORLD into our lives.
Brethren, AWAKE! Satan is subtle. He DECEIVES – and a deceived person is not aware he is misled – else he would not be deceived. He may be wholly sincere – yet deceived!
The battle cry now, within God’s one and only TRUE CHURCH, is “BACK TO CHRIST!” He is the one and only HEAD of God’s Church! Not any man – though He does call and USE humans as His servants – but so can SATAN mislead and deceive men into unknowingly becoming his servants.

Readers Prove Mr. Armstrong Right

Readers Prove Mr. Armstrong Right

By Richard Rice

PASTOR GENERAL’S REPORT, FEBRUARY 17, 1984 PAGE 5

A number who contact God’s Church are at first skeptical, even antagonistic toward our teachings and doctrines. Some start out determined to prove Mr. Armstrong wrong. But after thorough study, they are forced to admit that he is right after all and that it was their former beliefs which are in error. Following are some interesting comments from such people: I felt I had to tell you that I will not swallow your teachings hook, line and sinker! I will continue to read your literature if only to try to prove you wrong (which I am beginning to think I cannot do). If, in the course of my study, I come to the con- clusion that you are indeed right, I will let you know. I must thank you for opening the Bible as a book of study for today, and not just some great dark unfathomable mystery. A.T. (Muskegon, MI) I’m a firm believer in God’s advice “to prove all things.” Yes, I diligently sift through Mr. Armstrong’s booklets too. God does work in mysterious ways–all my “buts, ‘I “maybes, ” and excuses are being stripped from me. I’d like very much for you to relay the following to Mr. Armstrong: in trying to prove him wrong, I’ve ended up proving him right and me wrong! E.S. (Ironwood, MI) I must write to tell you how much I appreciate all the publications I have received from you so far–The PLAIN TRUTH, GOOD NEWS and Bible correspondence course plus many of your booklets. There have been a number of times while reading your articles when I said to myself, “I got ’em on this one,” only to find you are right again. G.H. (National City, MI) My husband and I have been married a little over six years. I’ve grown up listening to you and believing the Gospel but my husband hadn’t. So he finally decided to prove you wrong. He started this on his own. I had nothing to do with it. All I’ve ever said to him in all these years is prove it wrong and I’d believe anything he wanted me to believe. So all of a sudden he did try and then said, “One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do is to say I was wrong and that hurts.” I said “Mr. Armstrong has always said that.” Now he hungers for the truth and wishes to pay his tithe, which he’s never done before. S.G. (Moscow, TN) I don’t swallow things whole–I’m a digger and I see that I’ve been wrong! That’s refreshing to me. I’m 61 years old and have been in and out of 13 “Christian” churches. This is the only [real] one. He [ Mr. Armstrong] calls himself an apostle and wow, I believe it! V.H. (Boulder, CO) Please allow me first to say thank you for all the booklets and Bible correspondence course lessons you have sent me. Over the past year and a half or so, I’ve been having my eyes and ears opened by Mr. Armstrong’s broadcasts and all the printed material from the Worldwide Church of God. I took the challenge and started to check into and prove (or disprove) the beliefs which I had blindly accepted for so long. I proved to my satisfaction that the Worldwide Church of God is God’s true Church. With that proof, I started to change my life and the course it was on. I started keeping the Sabbath and I got in contact with the Church’s local minister. For the last two months I’ve been at- tending Sabbath services, and most recently my wife has come along also. I will be speaking to the minister soon about baptism. R.R. (Somersworth, NH) After reading your magazine and literature I always check my Bible. I have never caught you wrong in any of your statements pertaining to Bible scripture. Sometimes it’s a little hard to grasp, but it always stands up. W.W. (Alexander, NC) I have been receiving The PLAIN TRUTH magazine for almost one year now, along with countless booklets all free of charge. I am amazed at the accuracy of your interpretations and translations of the subjects in your writings. You and your staff are to be commended. I check out each and every translation with YOUNG’S ANALYTICAL EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE and find that you are right on the money each and every time. You are batting 1000. Keep plugging away and telling it like it is, The PLAIN TRUTH. J.B. (North Bergen, NJ) I have increased my knowledge tremendously by reading and studying your literature. At first I was apprehensive, but through prayer I’ve found your works are scriptural. There have been many unanswered questions in my mind that you shed light upon. H.B. (Farmington, MI)]]>

CREATION is the proof of the existence of God. Creation identifies God. The Sabbath is a weekly memorial of creation. A weekly reminder of God’s power to create. Therefore it identifies God to us — keeps us in the true memory and true worship of the true God. No other day but the SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK could have that great significance and MEANING. It was designed to keep us in the true worship of God.

WHY Christ Died – and Rose Again! by Herbert W. Armstrong

< ![CDATA[(SOURCE)

IT IS revealed that Jesus was “Emmanuel” — that is, “God with us” — GOD in human flesh. He was both God and man — divine as well as human. Can God die? Was Jesus really dead, or did only His body die? Was Jesus the divine One alive during the three days and three nights a body was in the tomb? What, then, is the NEED of the resurrection? Here is a brief pointed answer.

This is a question that has perplexed millions. It is an enigma that has never been made clear and plain to many minds.
Yet the Scriptures give us a clear revelation, in plain, simple words — if we can believe the Scriptures — which is to believe they mean exactly what they say.
We read, “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” (I Cor. 15:3).
