Before We go into the different teachings and doctrine that the Living Church of God teach concerning many of the DOCTRINES we have learned. Everyone needs to take half an hour and listen to this, it is VITAL!
*#1 BINDING AND LOOSING*
*June 17, 2010 – The Gospel of Matthew – Program 18*
“And I will give you [He told Peter.] the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
This is a rabbinical phrase meaning that Peter is the leader of the Apostles. Later, as we will see in chapter 18, authority is extended to all the Apostles to make binding and loosing decisions. That is, they could apply the Law of God to various situations and make a decision as to how to carry out its principles. They were not to make new laws. They were not to change God’s Laws, but they were able to make binding and loosing decisions in the Church of God. That was proper, as long as they stuck with God’s Laws, which many in the false church that developed did not do. “
*June 17,2010 – The Gospel of Matthew – Program 20*
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Most people do not understand this at all. It is not taught. This is another Hebrew idiom; the rabbis were guided by God, apparently, to make binding and loosing decisions. At least they had that right. They often made wrong decisions, but they were to make decisions based on God’s Law. They were not to introduce new laws. They were to make binding decisions based on the Law-applying the principle of God’s Law to a particular situation. So Christ told them to do that. He said: “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.”
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask [You see, in this kind of context, in a judicial context, making a binding decision.], it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name [In Christ’s authority to make this kind of decision.], I am there in the midst of them.”
You may ask: “How could that be?” If they were Christians, judging according to God’s will-in most cases, this would be ministers trying to make a binding and losing decision-God would back it up just like He did in the Old Testament because, as it tells us in Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
If you have your Bible handy, turn with me back to 2 Chronicles 19:4. It describes Jehoshaphat-a very righteous and God-fearing king. Jehoshaphat appointed judges in the land, throughout fortified cities of Judah, city by city. Verse 6 states: “And said to the judges, ‘Take heed to what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.'” If God was going to be with them in the judgment back in carnal Israel, how much more would God be with them in the New Testament Church of God, if they were faithful men trying sincerely to carry out God’s will-God’s judgment-in a particular situation. That is an important principle to understand. “

Editorial – By Roderick C. Meredith
“So it is vital for the unity in God’s Church and for our training as future kings and priests that we all learn now to genuinely trust Christ to guide His Church in all these matters.
It is the responsibility of the ministry to make “binding and loosing” decisions regarding divorce and remarriage problems, how to apply God’s statutes in today’s society regarding first, second and third tithe administration, and other such matters important to His Church.”

*Worldwide News – November 1978 – “HOW CHRIST GIVES THE CHURCH ITS BELIEFS” By Herbert W Armstrong*
So now let it be MADE OFFICIAL – by Christ’s present day apostle – that this binding and loosing PLAINLY, CLEARLY was given to Christ’s chief APOSTLE – not to lower rank ministers ordained by his authority – not by the CHURCH as a body – but by the APOSTLE!”
*Worldwide News – February 1979 – “And Now Christ Sets Church Back On Track Doctrinally” by Herbert W Armstrong*
“Matthew 10:2 “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called PETER…” Notice PETER is called the first.
Matthew 16:16-19 “… Simon PETER answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hat not revealed it unto thee but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee (PETER), That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;… and I will give unto thee (PETER) the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever thou (PETER) shalt bind o earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou (PETER) shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
In Matthew 18 Jesus appears to be speaking to the 12 as a group, and in verse 18 the binding and the loosing is again mentioned. The binding and loosing was given to APOSTLES but PETER was unquestioned leader of the original 12 apostles.”
*Good News – October 1979 – “How Did You Come to Know the Truth” By Herbert W Armstrong*
““And that brings me to the main purpose of writing this letter. “Three or four months ago I was intensively studying your article on “How Christ Gives the Church Its Beliefs,” which appeared in’ the November 20th, 1978. Good News. I memorized its main points, and thoroughly marked up my Bible – especially at Matthew 16:18, on the subject of binding and loosing.
“I was then staggered – left literally speechless – when I read an article in the March, 1979. Good News, which, in my eyes at least, just plainly CONTRADICTS what Christ is saying through you! Whereas Christ teaches, through you, that binding and loosing is given only to His apostles, the author of this particular article states that the ministry have the authority to make binding and loosing decisions.”
Let me add here that the particular article in question was a “REPEAT” article, which had appeared several years ago in The Good News. At that time no official doctrine had been made in the Church about “binding and loosing.”
I did not reread the article prior to republication in the March, 1979; Good News, and I am sure the author of the article did not recheck it, either. I made the doctrine of “binding and loosing” official only a few months ago. I do not remember catching anything in this article that should have been edited when it first appeared several years ago. So I will personally assume any blame for this discrepancy.”

*Prophecy – Nuclear Warfare – August 10, 1984 SERMON by Herbert W Armstrong*
“And the churches of this world just don’t understand it. Now that time of great trouble is what is known as the Great Tribulation. And churches all over talk about the — protestant churches — talk about the Great Tribulation, and they think the Great Tribulation is a curse sent by God. They don’t understand it, and they say the church will be raptured up before the Great Tribulation, that the church won’t be in it, the church will go up to heaven.
And they have a pretty way of saying it that Christ will first come for His bride and take her up to heaven, that is the church, and they think they are all going to go to heaven. And then after the Great Tribulation, some think that will be one year, some think it’ll be three and a half years, some think it will be seven years, and Seventh Day Adventists think it will be one thousand years, and then He comes back with His bride after they’ve been in heaven.
I don’t know why they want to come back to this terrible earth after they’ve been in heaven all this time, but apparently that’s the way they teach. “[End Quote]
I have also found a sermon transcript from someone who didn’t agree with it since it went against the Bible and what Mr. Armstrong taught. This can be found here. I do not have the speaker nor the date.
He also teaches that it is OKAY to wear makeup if worn modestly. Mr. Armstrong taught that it was *SIN*!!

Take a quick search through the archives and you’ll see several articles and booklets on the subject. It is Clear, Makeup is SIN.

*#6 Branches Churches of God*
*Where is God’s True Church Today booklet by Roderick Meredith*
“It is important to note that while God’s true Church is one spiritual organism, the Bible shows that it is normal for the Church to exist in several different corporate “fellowships” or “branches” at the same time. In chapters 2 and 3 of Revelation, Christ reveals the characteristics of the seven ages or “eras” of God’s true Church. “
*Living Church News – July/August 2000 – “What is the Mission of God’s Church? By Douglas Winnail*
“It is incredible how much confusion exists today among the various branches and fragments of the Church of God about the mission of the church. “
*Living Church News – September/October 2013 – Personal Grow in Faith Through Trials! By Roderick Meredith*
“Yet in the trials that we have today in the Work and in the Living Church of God and all branches of God’s Church—it may be easy to “give up” if things do not seem to be “going well” at any particular time. “
*Where is God’s True Church Today? By Roderick Meredith*
“To be in the body of Christ, you must be fully surrendered to God and be led by God’s Spirit: “Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9). So each member of the true Church must be genuinely converted and led by God’s Spirit. Again, God gives the Holy Spirit “to those who obey Him” (Acts 5:32). Yet down through the ages, there have been many different Church of God fellowships—”branches” of the true Church—that sometimes coexisted. In the first century after Christ, the Apostle John wrote of seven churches in Asia Minor, which displayed attitudes that would be found throughout Church history to come, each of which would also represent the dominant attitude of the Church in successive “eras.” These different “branches” of God’s true Church were often in different parts of the world—perhaps, at times, unknown even to each other. For example, during the 12th and 13th centuries, God’s true Church existed among the Bogomils in Hungary even while those believers were unaware that a similar group of Sabbath-keepers existed simultaneously in Great Britain.
Many in the U.S. are familiar with the Seventh Day Church of God. Over the years it underwent various “splits”—as many denominations do—and before World War II had ended up with one group headquartered in Stanberry, Missouri, and another headquartered in Salem, West Virginia. From this environment, God raised up Herbert W. Armstrong, who for many years led what became known as the Worldwide Church of God. The Worldwide Church of God became, by far, the largest group of true believers who surrendered their lives to keep the whole law of God, observe the true Sabbath, preach the Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God and use the correct name, “the Church of God.” Even during this time, however, there existed the aforementioned groups of the Seventh Day Church of God. Mr. Armstrong often acknowledged that these different fellowships were “branches” of the true Church.”

*Worldwide News – June 24, 1985 – Recent History of the Philadelphia Era of the World by Herbert W Armstrong*
“Little groups, splintering off, centered in Washington, D.C.; Eugene, Ore.; Tyler, Tex.; Monterey, Calif.; and other places with groups too small to mention. They are not bearing fruit for the Kingdom. They are not
pleasing God or being blessed by Him. Jesus said, “By their fruits you shall know them.” They usually claim to be “branches” of the Church of God. But Jesus said, “I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18). He did not say denominations, sects, cults, branches or a church divided against itself. Rather He said a house divided
against itself cannot stand. There is one true Church and one only. The apostle Paul pictured humanly self-appointed “branches” when he said to the elders of the local church at Ephesus that some of their own selves would depart to draw a following after themselves.
Paul said, “But now are they many members, yet but one body” (I Corinthians 12:20). How was that one body organized? Did it have one government? “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues” (verse 28). Verse 25 shows there should be no divisions in the body — no branches
or branch organizations.
The Church is “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone; in Whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy Temple in the Lord”(Ephesians 2:20-21). Note, the Church is organized and fitly framed together, not organized with competing and differing branches.”
*Unity Sermon – February 4, 1984 by Herbert W Armstrong*
“Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (16) From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted [just as if it’s welded together — the one body, not two bodies. Not different branches, not different sects and denominations — one a Methodist, one a Baptist, one a Presbyterian, one a Congregationalist, one a Church of Christ, another a Church of England, and so on.”[End Quote]
*Success Based On God’s Law (Origins) Sermon – July 30, 1983 by Herbert W Armstrong*
“Now there’s another thing. Here one says, well, you see the churches are like Christ said about the Vine. There are many branches. So there are many churches. There’s a Baptist church, a Presbyterian, and this and that. And one, who left this Church and started another church of his own, said he’s one of the branches — that there are many churches, not just one Church.
But they are all joined onto the Vine, and that’s speaking of individuals; and there are individual Churches, but they are all joined onto the Vine. Now there’s a Church here. There’s one that met this morning in this same place. There’s another one meeting this afternoon over in the Imperial Gym, I guess it is. We’ve had Churches today meeting today in Boston, where I expect to speak next Sabbath. You know, they’re all branches too. But we’re joined together! And we are joined in, and through, and by Christ — together. “
“And, by the way, if you look at the telecast tomorrow morning, I wonder are you indifferent — thinking “Well I don’t need to look at it”? Well, brethren, it’s money that you pay in. Of course, it’s God’s money. But that’s what’s paying for it, and each one of those telecasts tomorrow (The one tomorrow morning on Channel 11, and the one tomorrow evening on Channel 9.), each one of those just for that one-half hour is costing several thousand dollars. Did you know that? But they reach a lot of people; and telephone calls come in by the hundreds and the thousands as a result immediately, from people clear outside of the Church.
But that’s part of your work. I just happen to be the speaker. But you notice that it says, “This is sponsored by the Worldwide Church of God.” Not by me. I don’t sponsor it. You are all the Worldwide Church of God. The Worldwide Church of God is all of us combined, put together. And we’re ONE BODY fitly framed and joined together whether we are in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Philippines, South Africa, England, Germany, or where — ONE BODY, many offices, many things to do; but one body. So let’s understand that.”
